Monday Night Football | 2019 Open
Live Action
Client: ESPN
Content: Promo
To help celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Monday Night Football in 2019, ESPN decided to completely redo, refresh, and reimagine its entire Monday Night Football visual package. Reimagining a cultural staple that’s been an American pastime on Monday nights for nearly half a century and giving it a futuristic facelift wasn’t an easy task. But that sort-of challenge is exactly what fuels the team at Evolve Studios.

Draft Academy 2019
Creative Development, Live Action, Editorial & Post House
Client: ESPN+
Content: Episodic Series
Every year, thousands of football players are evaluated, tested, and interviewed for a chance to play on the ultimate stage: the NFL. The rigorous production schedule included 10 film crews, filming over 100 shoot days, across over 20 cities, a process that was the only way to capture the fast pace of this preparation period for the players. This, combined with our editorial team's diligence, resulted in an intentional, captivating storyline that gives audience members relevant content, right away, centered around one of the biggest events of the year in sports.

The Boardroom
Editorial & Post House, Motion Design & VFX
Client: ESPN+
Content: Titles
In an era where sports icons are independently creating content, each desiring to share their unique style and voice, we put our heads together to communicate Kevin Durant’s in a strong, visual way. For the initial live-action pitch, we crafted rough storyboards timed out in an animatic, but little did we know that we were actually laying the groundwork for a fully animated approach. The end result is something we never could have anticipated.

Live Action, Editorial & Post House, Motion Design & VFX
Client: Universal | National Geographic
Content: Short Films
In an epic collaboration with Universal Music, we were able to mirror how “ONE STRANGE ROCK”, an episodic series produced by Darren Aronofsky & Nutopia, unravels the story of Planet Earth and guides viewers through a unique perspective. Leveraging the power of music and the infamous “Batman” cave, we tackled the creation of an integrated music video with projection-mapped visuals onto the interior walls to complement multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd as he played original music piece on a grand piano.

This global Olympic stage was a grand opportunity for Evolve and our co-production partners, and we soon found ourselves knee-deep in the elements on Austria’s formidable Hintertux Glacier, amid one of our most extensive location-scouting and casting expeditions ever.

The Martyrs
Live Action, Editorial & Post House, Motion Design & VFX
Client: Bold Flame Entertainment
Content: Episodic Series, Titles
In trying to sell a show, we tried something new. Forgoing the traditional “sizzle” reel approach, we developed a poetic, compelling title sequence that integrated the show’s key narratives and protagonists. The Martyrs title sequence is 100% homegrown under our roof - built from a “pizza and beer” scrappy budget that resulted in something greater than we expected.

Earth Live with Jane Lynch
Live Action, Editorial & Post House, Motion Design & VFX
Client: National Geographic
Content: Promo, Titles
Sometimes we get to work with fully live-action projects, other times we live in a pure-VFX world. In dream cases, we get to do both. National Geographic’s premium and innovative content space raised some promotional challenges for the team, as was the case with Earth Live: a studio-based show that cut to National Geographic cinematographers in real time around the world. We were tasked with the creation of a bold, punchy visual that captured the live essence of the final show.

Every now and then, a project comes our way that’s just too good to be true - but Project Evergreen potentially takes the gold.
